The State of Mental Health in Middlesbrough

Mental health is a critical issue in our town, with many facing daily struggles. By hosting events like these and opening up the conversation about mental health, we aim to break down the stigma and provide tangible support to our community.

Claire Pitt (Mind Teesside) Said:

“Last year, Mind Teesside extended mental health support to over 15,000 individuals in our community, yet the demand for our services continues to grow, especially in the post-Covid era. We are truly facing a mental health crisis. As a charity, we hold firm to the belief that no one should confront mental health challenges by themselves. We are confident that through partnerships with businesses like CTO Digital, we can significantly enhance our impact, increase awareness, and provide more support to the people in our local area. We are truly proud of the awareness you are raising for Mental Health Awareness Week, this will have a real positive impact for people in the local area who require help with their mental health”

Resources for Mental Health

To further support our community’s mental health, we’ve compiled a list of valuable self-help literature:

  • For Anxiety: “The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook” by Edmund J. Bourne
  • For Depression: “Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy” by David D. Burns
  • For Mindfulness: “Wherever You Go, There You Are” by Jon Kabat-Zinn
  • For Stress: “The Stress-Proof Brain” by Melanie Greenberg

These resources are available at local bookstores and online. They offer practical advice and strategies to cope with various aspects of mental health. You can also check out these fantastic resources supplied by Mind Teesside by clicking here.
